If your Asset 432 tracker is experiencing connectivity issues, power cycling or performing a physical reset is a practical first step in troubleshooting. This process helps resolve temporary glitches or obstructions that may affect signal reception. If power cycling does not resolve the issue, consider checking the device’s placement for optimal signal reception and ensuring it is free from physical damage. Follow these steps to power cycle your tracker effectively:

Tools Required:

  • Philips head screwdriver or drill (PH2 recommended)

  • Pointed tool

  • Flat-ended tool (e.g., flat-head screwdriver)

For a visual step-by-step walkthrough, you can watch this video tutorial on how to power cycle/reset your Asset 432 tracker.

Steps:

  1. Remove the Waterproof Plugs: Begin by removing the four waterproof plugs on the back of the device. Insert the pointed tool into the small hole next to each plug and push down and out to dislodge them.

  2. Unscrew the Device: Use the PH2 screwdriver or drill to remove the four screws once the plugs are out. This will allow you to open the device.

  3. Open the Device Shell: With the screws removed, take out the device from its shell. Locate the tab on the bottom right and use the flat-ended tool to pry upward on this tab to open the shell.

  4. Power Cycle the Device: Find the power switch and the small button next to it. Flip the power switch to the off position, wait ten seconds, then switch it back on. Hold down the button above the on and off switch until a blue light appears, then release it. Avoid pressing the button again after the light appears.

  5. Reassemble the Device: Carefully reinsert the device into the shell, making sure it snaps into place. Be cautious not to accidentally switch the device off during this process. Flip the device over and check for a flashing green light to ensure it is on.

  6. Verify Device Functionality: If the green light does not appear after a minute, reopen the device, flip the switch to the on position, and hold down the button until the blue light is visible.

  7. Final Steps: Once the device is confirmed to be on, screw it back together and reinsert the waterproof plugs. Finally, place the device in an open area with a clear view of the sky to ensure optimal signal reception.

Tip:

If connectivity issues persist after power cycling your Asset 432 tracker, make sure the device is positioned in an open area with an unobstructed view of the sky to enhance signal reception.
