🚗 Overview
The AssetTrack Wired is a rugged, hardwired GPS tracker with built-in BLE gateway functionality. It connects directly to your asset’s 9–36 V power source—battery, ignition, or alternate—for continuous real-time tracking. It also discovers nearby AssetTag/AssetTemp devices, delivering dual visibility and strong performance.
🛠️ Installation Guide for AssetTrack Wired
Place the device with the designated top (antenna side) facing directly upward and ensure a clear line of sight to the sky. This orientation is critical for optimal GNSS (GPS) signal acquisition and tracking performance.
2. Connect the power harness
Plug the wiring harness labeled “Power” into the matching pigtail connector on the device. The other two pigtail connectors are unused in this setup and may be disregarded.
3. Secure the connection
Rotate and tighten the integrated threaded coupling ring (cap) on the harness until it is fully sealed to the pigtail connector. This ensures both electrical continuity and an IP-rated waterproof seal.
4. Wire the positive lead
Attach the red wire from the harness to a regulated DC power source supplying +12V to +36V, such as the vehicle’s positive battery terminal or an ignition-controlled circuit.
5. Wire the ground lead
Attach the black wire from the harness to a clean chassis ground or another verified, low-impedance grounding point on the vehicle. Ensure there is metal-to-metal contact and avoid painted or corroded surfaces.
6. Power on & check LEDs
Once power is applied, the device’s onboard tri-color LED indicators will illuminate to show system status:
Yellow (GNSS) – Indicates satellite acquisition and GPS lock
Green (GPRS) – Indicates cellular network registration and session status
Red (System/Power) – Indicates power state and internal battery status (if applicable)
📶 Reporting Behavior
Default Reporting:
The AssetTrack Wired reports location every 400 meters when moving.
Optional Setting:
You can configure the device via command to report every 30 seconds while in motion.
Data Updates:
Each update includes key metrics such as GPS position, speed, and status.
BLE Gateway Behavior:
Detects nearby BLE tags (e.g. AssetTag, AssetTemp) and reports their presence, extending visibility to tag-equipped assets in proximity.
🧠 Troubleshooting Tips
Verify Connections:
Ensure that all wiring (power and ground) is firmly connected and secure.
Check Voltage:
Use a voltmeter to confirm that the power supply from the vehicle is within the required +9–36V DC range.
Optimize Mounting Location:
Install the device away from fully enclosed metal boxes or other signal-blocking materials to improve GPS and cellular signal reception.
