The AssetTrack is a rugged asset-tracking device designed for long-term monitoring. Over time, the internal battery may require replacement. This guide outlines the proper steps to safely power down the device, replace the battery, and reassemble the unit.

🧰 Tools and Materials Needed

Before you begin, make sure you have the following:

  • Phillips head screwdriver (PH0 or PH1)

  • Anti-static surface or grounding strap (recommended)

  • Compatible replacement battery for the AssetTrack device

🛠️ Step-by-Step Instructions

1. Remove the Back Screws

Using a Phillips head screwdriver, remove all 8 screws from the back panel of the device.

Place the screws somewhere safe so they are not lost during the replacement process.

2. Remove the Magnetic Backplate

Carefully lift the magnetic backplate off the device.

Set it aside on a clean, flat surface while you access the internal components.

3. Power Off the Device

Locate the power switch next to the SIM card tray.

Slide the switch to the OFF position before touching or removing any internal components.

4. Wait 10 Seconds

Allow the device to sit for 10 seconds before continuing.

This allows the device to fully discharge and reset safely prior to completing the battery replacement.

5. Power the Device Back On

After the waiting period, slide the power switch back to the ON position.

Confirm that the device powers on correctly before moving to reassembly.

6. Reassemble the Device

Once the battery replacement is complete:

  1. Align the magnetic backplate with the device housing.

  2. Press it firmly into place.

  3. Reinstall all 8 screws.

When tightening the screws, use a cross pattern to ensure even pressure and prevent the case from warping.

✅ Completion

Your AssetTrack battery replacement is now complete. Once the device is powered back on and reassembled, it should resume normal tracking operation.

If the device does not power on correctly, double-check that the power switch is set to ON and that the backplate and screws are properly secured.

⚠️ Important Notes

  • Do not skip the 10-second wait period (Step 4) after powering off the device. Skipping this step may cause the device to malfunction or fail to properly register the battery replacement.

  • Perform the replacement on a clean, static-safe surface whenever possible.

  • Keep all screws organized during the process to avoid misplacement.
